CPAP machine or Continuous Positive Airway Pressure machine has, for many years now, been the gold standard treatment for those affected by Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

This device was invented by Dr Colin Sullivan in 1980 and has since come a long way through its various iterations. With significant improvements in the technology of a CPAP machine over the years, it is now considered a trusted companion for those with Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Leading healthcare companies and device manufacturers such as ResMed, Drive DeVilbiss and Philips Respironics have invested heavily in research to manufacture state of the art equipment and provide a superior user experience. 

Does CPAP machine really improve sleep?

The answer to this all-important question is a definitive YES. In fact, even people who’ve had years of compromised sleep quality owing to their Sleep Apnea will begin to experience the positive outcomes of CPAP from the very first day of use itself. OSA is a condition characterized by the complete or partial collapse of the upper airways during sleep, thereby blocking airflow. Obstructive Sleep Apnea is often due to increased weight and it is easy for OSA patients to slip into a vicious cycle of daytime sleepiness and fatigue along with poor sleep, which can lead to further weight gain. A regular use of CPAP machine can break this cycle of poor sleep and fatigue, making the user feel a lot more energetic during the day. This encourages the users to become more active and generally adopt a healthier lifestyle.
